Probably there isn't a better movie to start with - my personal number 1!
The movie takes us through main character's life, Andy Dufrense, after a verdict of two life sentences for murdering his wife and her lover. So, he is being imprisoned for life and the Shawshank prison is where the action takes place.
The main actors in the movie are Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman - great respect for both of them. It seems the directors have found the best match for the movie. I was pretty skeptic about the cast back in 1994 but you can see their connection and strange in a way friendship developing through the whole movie. I never expected to see Robbins play so well, having in mind he did not have such a big deal of roles before that. And it looked like Freeman was the ideal screen partner.
Screenplay - just outstanding, awesome and phenomenal... I have never seen a movie with so many twists and so many new situation in my life! And this is a guarantee you will not get bored through the whole two and a half hours. I could not believe it ended, I just wanted to be a never ending story...
I have watched the movie at least dozen of times and when I feel like I want to see a movie but don't know which one, The Shawshank Redemption is always a right choice!
